The Mr. Glass 6 step process to overcoming pet issues:
Step 1: Walk Through
Sometimes our trouble areas are obvious and we can jump right in and start treating. At other times we will need some help in identifying the problem areas. How do you do that? Most of the time we can let our noses do the walking. Our noses can lead us to most of the problems most of the time however it is not always a sure thing. The most reliable way is to use an ultra violet (black light) light. Urine will fluoresce under UV light. You will be surprised what we find.
Step 2: Evaluate Problem Areas
So...using our eyes, our noses, and the ultra violet light we can now determine the full scope of our 'pet problem'. Mr. Glass' professionals will mark the suspected areas with white chalk and inform the customer what we are in for as far as contamination. One of the things we will want to consider at this juncture is how extensive of an undertaking do we want to take? Some pet issues are classified as pet damage and we will need to replace portions of carpet, tack strip, and even sub floor. Hopefully we can just treat the affected areas which is the case in 90% of the time but not all the time.
Step 3: Offer a Remedy
We can offer a number of remedies as previously mentioned. Typically we can handle most of the problems with some of the best enzymatic solutions on the market. Live enzymes are put on the offending areas which go about eating the bad odor causing bacteria which is a good thing. After a required dwell time we can use our flood extractions tools and suck urine out all the way through the carpet all the way through the pad and right down to the sub floor. This certainly is a better remedy than ripping up carpet and also a lot less expensive as well.
Step 4: Treatment
The treatments as mentioned using enzymatic solutions along with a regular cleaning using hot water extraction is going to be one of the most reliable methods to return carpets to there pre pet issue problems. Basically we will treat, dwell, extract and de- odorize. Of course some moisture will remain even after a thorough extraction. That is actually a really good thing considering that what is left is an antimicrobial and will not allow mold to form and the enzymes will continue eating bacteria and urine proteins and salts. Results No Odor!
Step 5: Odors
Along with using enzymes we can use a number of different avenues for attacking odors. There are a lot of different products out there but the vast majority is consumer based and only mask odors. This can be quite successful however and should still be considered. An example is just pet odor not urine or feces just the pet, like hair. Chances are the only way you can eliminate pet odors is to eliminate the pet. We all know that isn't going to happen. When we are dealing with the urine issues I think the best bet is to eliminate the odor at the molecular level. An entire science and chemistry is devoted to canceling odors somewhat like sound machines cancel noises. These are options available to you.
Step 6: Preventative Plan
It is the job of our crew to provide you with a plan. We can show you the how to and what to do to prevent and manage pet issue problems.
